From the Foster:

This is seriously the cutest dog I've ever seen. He is always smiling, he ROCKS a bowtie, and his velvety ears (very kissable) and shorty legs just make you melt. He prances like a prince on a leash.

Buddie is such a HAPPY dog, and he loves being silly and playful, but he isn't hyper at all, just busy. He comes to the office with me (I work in the Secondhand Hounds office) and even though he's gated in my office, he happily greets every dog and person who comes in the front door. When it's not exciting, he just grabs his toys, and plays with them quietly in his bed. Buddie is good in the car, and sits nicely in my lap wherever we go. He is VERY good at sitting happily in his bed near you, surrounded by his toys. Buddie LOVES toys. Squeaky stuffed animals are the BEST. He would LOVE a home that would share their bed at night, but he is fine in his own bed/crate in the laundry room, also.

Potty training... I just treat every new dog like a puppy, and take them out very frequently and reward them. He marked the first two days I had him, so he wore a belly band in the house. It has been clean since, and he uses a potty pad diligently if I leave for several hours and he needs to go. He does great on a tie out in my backyard that isn't fenced, and appears to be well versed in being on one, so I think would do well with that, a fence, or on walks!

Buddie is good with kids, but he will growl if anyone tries to take his precious toys. I DO take his toys to see what he does, but he doesn't bite or even nip, just growls. I push every dog to the limits to make sure I know what they will do. I like to set every dog up for success, and toddlers or younger might stress him out if they touch his things a lot (plus he WILL think someone else's stuffed animals are HIS). He loves dogs, but he initiates play like a chihuahua (he growls and barks in a dog's face to ask them to play).

I recently learned that he was actually surrendered to a kill shelter by his previous owners because the resident cat was attacking and hurting him, and he actually screams in terror and runs away from cats who walk towards him, and he barks at them from a distance. :( Because of this, I don't want to risk placing him in a home with cats and causing him to live in fear. However, I also want to make it clear that he is NOT aggressive towards cats in any way, just annoying with the barking, and legitimately terrified of them coming near him. 4/16/18 6:33 PM
